Axon Active started in 2009 with one mission: a reliable software development company clients could trust to build and grow their digital products. Seventeen years on, we keep growing — and the mission goes on.
In 2008, our Axon Group was already a successful digital transformation provider in Switzerland. However, we quickly faced a scaling challenge: we struggled to recruit enough developers to build our digital products and services. To address this, Markus Baur, later co-founder and CEO of Axon Active, explored various IT labor markets and successfully established our first development team in Vietnam that same year.
The available talent, the open-minded culture, and the favorable business environment convinced Markus that Vietnam was the ideal place to build a long-term software development organization. As a result, Axon Active was officially founded in Ho Chi Minh City in early 2009. The vision of delivering flexible, affordable, and high-quality software development services became the foundation of Axon Active.
We made our first move northward, opening an office in the beautiful coastal city of Da Nang. This location quickly became one of the most desirable workplaces in the region, providing opportunities for thousands of talented software engineers across the central provinces.
The Scrum Breakfast event was started in 2012. It has become the most well-known monthly Scrum event where people with the same interest in Agile software development would sit down and enjoy their free breakfast while discussing and exchanging everything about Scrum and Agile.
In early 2015, our vision of creating a major platform where IT students and software professionals could connect with industry experts became a reality with the launch of DevDay Da Nang. The first event attracted more than 800 students, IT professionals, and 24 speakers from local and international companies. Our initiative inspired other IT companies to join forces in developing this valuable community platform. Today, DevDay Da Nang welcomes over 3,000 attendees each year, making it one of Vietnam’s largest IT events.
In late 2015, our San Francisco office was opened to American corporations, allowing them to find more affordable and suitable software development services outside of Silicon Valley.
Axon Active extended to Can Tho city, only a 3-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, and with an international airport at the heart of the Mekong Delta
Doubled the size of our Ho Chi Minh City headquarters with a modern workplace design, marking a major milestone in our growth.
Since 2022, we have been providing Swiss customers with local services from our Luzern headquarters, complementing our Vietnam-based development services with expert consulting. At the same time, a brand-new office in Thu Duc City gives us access to a broader talent pool.
To keep pace with our rapid growth and evolving needs, we upgraded and expanded our offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Duc City, Da Nang and Can Tho.
